This nickel alloy is majorly characterized by its high resistance to chloride-induced pitting. Hastelloy C22® also has a commendable resistance capacity against stress corrosion and crevice corrosion cracking. The tungsten and molybdenum content of this material provides it with good resistance to reducing media, while its high chromium level offers great resistance to oxidizing media. This popular nickel steel alloy boasts of having an incredible resistance to diverse types of oxidizing aqueous media, which includes oxidizing acids with chlorine ions, mixtures containing nitric acid, as well as wet chlorine.
