310/310S Stainless Steel tubes Overview

310/310S stainless steel tubes are designed for high-heat and corrosion-prone environments. The SUS310 UNS S31000 Tubing offers excellent oxidation resistance, strong performance at elevated temperatures, and reliable strength in harsh conditions. The SA213 TP310 Tubes contain more carbon in them, which makes them stronger. The 310S is the low-carbon version that is easier to weld. Both are ideal for heat exchangers, furnaces, and thermal processing systems. These AISI 310S Round Tube work well across industries like power, chemical, and refinery. Options such as SS 310 heat exchanger tube, WNR 1.4845 square tubing, and AISI 310S round tube provide versatility for many applications.

SS 310/310S vs Other Grades

Stainless steel 310 and 310S are high-temperature stainless steels with high chromium and nickel content. They stand out for heat resistance, handling up to ~1150°C, while 310 handles ~870°C, 316 up to ~925°C, and 321 around ~900°C. SS 310/310S also has better yield and tensile strength than 310 and 316, with decent elongation. These grades are built for heat-heavy applications such as furnaces, heat exchangers, and petrochemical plants. In comparison, 310 suits food equipment and home use, 316 works well in marine and chemical areas and 321 fits aircraft and exhaust systems. Stainless steel 310/310S costs more than 310 and 316 and may not be as widely stocked, but when you need strength at high heat, nothing else performs like them.

Resistance Capabilities

Our Stainless Steel 304/304L tubes are great for use in food processing, marine and manufacturing environments since they don’t rust, corrode, or react with various chemicals. The austenitic structure makes the material durable and strong at high temperatures. The low carbon concentration in 304L makes it easier to weld and keeps carbide from forming, which keeps the material from rusting after fabrication. Understanding international equivalents such as ASTM, DIN or JIS is essential for global procurement, certifications, and replacements. These standards ensure that our tubes meet consistent quality and performance benchmarks worldwide, enabling smooth cross-border sourcing, regulatory compliance, and hassle-free substitutions in maintenance or project upgrades.

Difference Between 310 and 310s Stainless Steel

Stainless steel 310 and 310S are similar in many ways, but the main difference is the carbon content. SS 310 has higher carbon, which gives it better strength at high temperatures. But that also makes it more likely to form carbide buildup when welded. Stainless steel 310S has lower carbon, which helps prevent carbide precipitation during welding when working in corrosive or high-heat environments. The lower carbon content makes 310S easier to weld and shape without the risk of cracking or rusting over time. Both grades offer good heat resistance and corrosion strength. While 310 offers slightly higher strength at extreme heat, 310S is the go-to choice for cleaner welds and better corrosion resistance, especially in harsh environments like boilers, heat exchangers, or furnace parts.

Manufacturing Process of 310/310S Stainless Steel Tubes

To make high-performance stainless steel tubes that are durable, reliable, and safe to use at high temperatures, the production process must be controlled and traceable. We start with high-quality raw material that is melted in an Electric Arc Furnace. Then we use AOD (Argon Oxygen Decarburization) to fine-tune it and make sure the appropriate alloy combination is locked in.  The metal is cast into billets, then heated and molded using the Mannesmann process for seamless tubes or hot extrusion for shaped ones. Cold working techniques like as pilgering or cold drawing help in adjusting wall thickness, diameter, and surface polish. We follow that with solution annealing to relieve stress and boost strength. Next comes pickling or bright annealing for a clean finish, then straightening and full NDT checks to catch flaws. Each tube is certified to ASTM A312 and ISO 9001:2015 standards, with full traceability provided by Mill Test Certificates (MTCs).

Applications and Uses of Stainless Steel 310/310S Tubes

Stainless Steel 310 and 310S tubes are commonly used in industries that need materials that are strong and can handle heat. These include furnaces, petrochemical factories, refineries, power generation units, and cement making facilities, places where materials must perform under extreme temperatures. Common applications include heat exchanger tubes, superheater tubes, radiant tubes, and flue gas ducts, where both strength and corrosion resistance are critical. These tubes hold up well in oxidizing and carburizing atmospheres, making them ideal for thermal processing and combustion zones. 310S, with its low carbon content is especially suited for welded structures since it resists sensitization and intergranular corrosion during welding. This makes it a trusted choice for fabrication in demanding environments. For engineers, industrial buyers and EPC contractors, SS 310/310S tubes offer long-term reliability and proven performance in tough operational conditions.
