Benefits of Incoloy 800/800H/800HT Pipes

Incoloy 800-series pipes are engineered to perform reliably in high-temperature and aggressive chemical environments, where dimensional stability and oxidation resistance are essential. Specific mechanical and thermal properties catered to demanding process conditions are provided by each of the 800, 800H and 800HT types.
  • High-Temperature Stability and Flexibility: Maintains structural integrity, when subjected to prolonged exposure to temperatures of up to 1100°F (800) and 1500°F (800H/800HT) with no distortion or degradation.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Its chromium and nickel equilibrium, resists oxidation, carburization and sulfidation in oxidizing and acidic conditions.
  • Creep Resistance: 800H and 800HT grades provide enhanced resistance to time-dependent deformation under high mechanical stress.
  • Weldability and Fabricability: Appropriate for a number of joining techniques such as TIG, MIG, and SAW; easy formability ensures ease of manufacturing and making site adjustments.
  • Resistance to Chloride Stress-Corrosion Cracking: Exhibits superior performance in chloride-containing environments compared to stainless steels and copper alloys.

Difference Between Incoloy 800/800H/800HT Pipes and Copper Pipes

Incoloy 800/800H/800HT pipes and copper pipes serve different industrial needs due to their distinct material properties. Incoloy, a nickel-iron-chromium alloy, is designed to provide high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and structural stability and is well suited for use in furnaces, heat exchangers, and severe chemical environments when temperatures are above 1000°F. These pipes have very good tensile strength and creep resistance, enabling them to resist long-term stress without deforming. In contrast, copper tubing, usually constructed of pure copper or copper alloys such as brass, is valued for its heat and electricity conductance, antimicrobial qualities, which qualify it for plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning applications, and low-pressure services. Copper, though, softens at over 400°F and does not possess. Incoloy’s thermal stability and corrosion resistance in sulfuric, ammonia, or chloride environments cannot be used for demanding industrial applications.
