Midland Alloys Inc. is a trusted Indian manufacturer and global supplier of Hastelloy B2 Tubes, delivering precision-engineered solutions to meet critical industry needs. These tubes are made from nickel-molybdenum alloy Hastelloy B2, known for its exceptional resistance to hydrochloric acid and other aggressive reducing media. Hastelloy B2 Tubes, commonly known as B-2 Hastelloy® Alloy Tubing, possess good mechanical strength in the weld and annealed condition. They possess good corrosion resistance due to stress corrosion cracking and uniform corrosion and they have good ductility. With a chemical composition containing high concentrations of nickel (around 69%) and molybdenum (around 28–30%), they are compatible with ASTM B622 N06022 Hydraulic Tube specifications. Their mechanical properties include a minimum tensile strength of 690 MPa, yield strength of 310 MPa, and elongation of 40% in 50 mm. The reduction of area typically exceeds 40%, making them reliable for harsh service conditions. We produce and provide Hastelloy B2 Seamless Tubes, B2 Hastelloy Rectangular Tubes, Hastelloy B2 werkstoff nr. 2.4617 Seamless Tubes, and ASME SB 622 Hastelloy B2 Welded Tubing with close dimensional tolerances and surface finish.

Difference Between Hastelloy B2 Tubes vs Hastelloy C276 Tubes

Hastelloy B2 Tubes are specifically designed to withstand harsh reducing conditions, particularly hydrochloric acid, at all temperatures and concentrations.  On the other hand, Hastelloy C276 Tubes provide better resistance when mixed with acid and oxidizing environments, as they contain a higher proportion of chromium. Though Hastelloy B2 contains a higher percentage of molybdenum, it doesn’t contain enough chromium to resist oxidizers and hence is not as versatile in mixed chemical environments. Hastelloy C276 is more suitable for varied chemical processing applications due to its balanced resistance to both oxidizing and reducing agents. In terms of fabrication, both alloys are weldable, but B2 requires more controlled heat input and cooling to avoid thermal cracking.

Applications of Hastelloy B2 Seamless Tubes

Hastelloy B2 Seamless Tubes are highly valued in industries where corrosion caused by aggressive chemical conditions poses a significant challenge. They are commonly used in chemical processing facilities to safely handle acids such as sulfuric, acetic, and hydrochloric. These tubes are used in the pharmaceutical industry in reactors and heat exchangers in which purity and anti-corrosive resistance are critical. Petrochemical refineries use these tubes for sour gas piping, pressure vessel and condensers. They are used to prevent corrosion due to chlorine dioxide and other bleaching agents in the pulp and paper industry. Hastelloy B2 DIN 2.4617 Round Tubing is also used in the marine engineering industry. The alloy’s strength and thermal stability also make it suitable for use in waste treatment systems, fertilizer production, and nuclear fuel reprocessing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The Hastelloy B2 cost varies based on size, schedule, shape (such as seamless or welded), and quantity.  Market rates fluctuate based on raw material costs. For the most current rates, get in touch with Midland Alloys Inc.

B2 is an alloy of nickel and molybdenum that is generally used to withstand reducing agents like hydrochloric acid. It provides good corrosion resistance, particularly in non-oxidizing environments, and is characterized by its mechanical stability at stress.

In chemical and high temperature environments, Hastelloy typically has a better performance than stainless steel. It provides greater resistance to chemical attack, particularly in reducing media and is consequently more appropriate for niche industrial uses.
