Midland Alloys Inc. is a trusted Indian manufacturer and global supplier of Monel K500 Flanges, offering precision-engineered solutions built for extreme operating conditions. These flanges are made from nickel-copper alloy K500, a precipitation-hardened grade known for its excellent corrosion resistance, enhanced tensile strength, and superior fatigue performance. Monel K500 complies with DIN 2.4375, WERKSTOFF Nr. 2.4375 and UNS N05500 standards and is designed to function in challenging chemical, and marine environments.  With a chemical composition of roughly 63% nickel, 27–33% copper, 2.3–3.15% aluminum and 0.35–0.85% titanium, monel K500 has remarkable hardening properties.  Key mechanical properties include tensile strength up to 965 MPa, yield strength around 690 MPa, elongation of 20%, and a reduction of area up to 45%, depending on tempering. These characteristics make ASTM B564 Monel K500 Flanges a reliable choice for critical systems exposed to corrosion, pressure, and mechanical wear.

Types of Monel 400 Flanges

There are numerous varieties of Monel 400 flanges to accommodate different piping systems and pressure ratings. Depending on the sealing technique, load capacity and installation style each type provides unique advantages.

Manufacturing Types

  • SORF (Slip-On Raised Face)
    SORF (Slip-On Raised Face)

Slides over the pipe and gets welded for easy installation in low-pressure systems.

  • BLRF (Blind Raised Face)
    BLRF (Blind Raised Face)

Closes off pipe ends; used for testing or sealing flow in a system.

  • SWRF (Socket Weld Raised Face)
    SWRF (Socket Weld Raised Face)

Pipe fits into a recessed area and is welded around the edge. Ideal for small-bore, high-pressure lines.

  • WNRF (Weld Neck Raised Face)
    WNRF (Weld Neck Raised Face)

Has a long, tapered hub and welds to the pipe for strong, leak-proof joints under high pressure.

Face Forms

  • Raised Face (RF)
    Raised Face (RF)

The most common type has a raised surface that improves gasket sealing in medium to high pressure.

  • Ring Type Joint (RTJ)
    Ring Type Joint (RTJ)

Uses a metal ring for sealing and works well in high-pressure, high-temperature services.

  • Flat Face (FF)
    Flat Face (FF)

Flat surface flange used with cast iron or low-pressure piping where full face gasket is needed.

  • Lap-Joint Face (LJF)
    Lap-Joint Face (LJF)

Used with stub ends and are easy to align and install. Good for systems that need frequent dismantling.

Applications of Monel K500 Flanges

DIN 2.4375 Monel K500 flanges are suited for service in offshore platforms, marine propulsion systems, and seawater piping, where exposure to saltwater and turbulence is routine. In oil and gas, these flanges are used in sour gas processing, valve assemblies, and drilling hardware. The chemical sector employs Monel Alloy K500 Flanges in reactors, pumps, and pipe networks handling caustic, acidic, and chlorinated media. They are also usedin turbine blades, shafts, and storage tanks for power generation. Their durability under dynamic loads makes them suitable for defence, aerospace, and shipbuilding applications that require extended operational life.

Difference between Monel K500 Flanges vs Monel 400 Flanges

Monel K500 Flanges differ from Monel 400 Flanges primarily in mechanical properties. Although both alloys are resistant to corrosion in the same environments, Monel K500 has considerably greater tensile and yield strength due to age-hardening from aluminium and titanium additions. K500 is also more resistant to erosion and wear in high-velocity applications. Monel 400, being more ductile and softer, can be shaped and welded but does not handle pressure and mechanical stress well. When strength and corrosion resistance are both needed in demanding applications, however, K500 is the material of choice.

Why Choose Midland Alloys Inc. for Monel Alloy UNS N05500 Flanges

Midland Alloys Inc. is a prominent Indian manufacturer and exporter of ASTM B564 UNS N05500 Blind Flange. As an ISO certified company we provide quality products along with advanced in-house testing. With the ability to customize face types, pressure classes, and end preparations, we ensure complete conformity to mechanical and dimensional standards for all of our Monel alloy UNS N05500 flanges. Our flanges come with Mill Test Certificates (MTC) as per ASTM/ASME standards, verifying both chemical composition and mechanical values. From small lots to bulk shipments, our project-specific solutions focus on durability, timely delivery, and trusted partnerships.

FAQs

Costs of raw materials, machining complexity, size range, and necessary certifications all affect the pricing. The higher strength and corrosion resistance of the Monel K500 flange are reflected in its price when compared to other nickel alloys.

Although isolation systems are the main application for Monel DIN 2.4360 spectacle blind flanges, we also provide Monel Alloy K500 Threaded Flange versions according to project requirements.
