- Stainless Steel 304/304L Welded Pipes
Midland Alloys Inc. is a trusted supplier and manufacturer of stainless steel 304 & 304L welded pipes, with in-house stainless steel production knowledge, and regulated welded pipe manufacturing capabilities. We produce stainless steel 304 welded pipe and SS 304L welded pipe from reputable austenitic stainless steel grades known for their uniformity, and extended service life. Grade 304 is the normal chromium-nickel alloy, whereas 304L is a low-carbon variation that reduces carbide precipitation during welding. These pipes are used in industrial plumbing, structural systems, chemical processing units and general engineering applications that require dependability. Manufacturing follows ASTM A312, ASTM A358, ASME, and EN standards, with controlled welding, accurate sizing, and multiple surface finishes. With ready stock, ISO-certified systems, and global supply strength as a leading manufacturer and Exporter, Midland Alloys Inc. also operates as a dependable SS 304L welded pipe supplier for export-grade requirements.
What is SS 304/304L Welded Piping?
SS 304/304L welded pipes are made by rolling stainless steel strips or plates into tubular shapes and then welding the longitudinal seams with controlled welding techniques. The base grade, 304, is a chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel with good strength, corrosion resistance, and formability. The low-carbon grade, 304L, restricts carbon content to decrease intergranular corrosion following welding, particularly in thick-wall, or fully welded systems. Both stainless steel 304 welded pipe and SS 304L welded pipe operate well in atmospheric, and slightly corrosive situations. The welded manufacturing process enables for precise dimensional control, consistent wall thickness, and smooth internal surfaces. Due to these characteristics, 304 welded stainless steel pipe is widely used in industrial pipes, commercial installations, and structural frameworks where fabrication ease, and consistent performance are critical.

Industrial Applications for SS 304 / 304L Welded Pipes
SS 304 welded pipes are suitable for various industrial applications requiring moderate pressure, controlled temperatures, and corrosion exposure. Oil and gas plants use them for utility, and auxiliary pipes. Petrochemical and chemical plants rely on their ability to withstand process fluids and cleaning chemicals. They are used in water, steam, and condensate lines in power generation plants. Food and beverage industries use these pipes for their clean process lines, and ease of manufacturing. Water treatment systems use them for transport and filtration networks. Automotive plants apply them in structural and exhaust assemblies, while construction projects use them for supports, frames, and architectural features. Welded construction keeps costs controlled without compromising service reliability.
Why Choose SS 304 / 304L Welded Pipes
SS 304 welded pipes remain widely used in industrial and commercial systems because they combine corrosion resistance with dependable mechanical strength. The chromium-nickel austenitic structure supports stable performance across temperature and pressure variations, while good weldability simplifies fabrication and installation. Grade 304L further improves reliability in welded assemblies by limiting carbon-related corrosion risks. These pipes maintain dimensional accuracy, support long service life, and reduce lifecycle costs in piping networks. As an ISO-certified company, we supply export-grade material with full traceability, we at Midland Alloys Inc. are a dependable stainless steel 304l welded pipe supplier delivering consistent export quality.
Why Choose SS 304 / 304L Welded Pipes
The primary difference lies in the carbon content; 304 contains up to 0.08%, while 304L is restricted to 0.03%. This lower carbon level in 304L prevents sensitisation during welding, making it better for heavy-gauge components.
Yes. SS 304 welded pipes are widely used for transporting water, oil, gas and chemicals in low to medium-pressure environments. Their welded seams are tested to ensure they handle the internal flow without leakage.
Absolutely, as 304 is a food-grade material that resists organic chemicals and is easy to sanitise. It does not leach contaminants into the food product.
They perform exceptionally well in mildly corrosive chemical environments, especially where welding is required for assembly. For highly aggressive acids, however, a higher grade like 316L might be necessary.
