The tubes have a minimum tensile strength of 965 MPa, yield strength of 690 MPa, and elongation of 20%, making them ideal for demanding applications. Difference Between Monel K500 Tubes and Monel 400 Tubes

Monel K500 Tubes and Monel 400 Tubes have the same base composition of nickel and copper, but they exhibit considerable differences in mechanical properties and performance because of their differences in microstructure.. Monel K500 is a precipitation-hardened version of Monel 400, achieved by adding controlled amounts of aluminum and titanium, which form finely dispersed particles during heat treatment. This results in Monel K500 having much better tensile and yield strength than Monel 400, thus finding its applications where high-load applications is involved. Although both grades possess very good corrosion resistance in seawater and chemical environments, Monel K500 exhibits higher wear resistance and fatigue strength and retains the non-magnetic characteristics even after hardening. Monel 400, however, is softer, easier to machine, and is used for moderate-strength applications where formability is of greater concern than hardness.
