Difference Between Monel Tubes and Inconel Tubes

Though Monel and Inconel both fall in the category of high-performance nickel alloys, they differ in their composition as well as application. Monel Tubes are nickel-copper alloys primarily designed for excellent corrosion resistance in marine and chemical settings, particularly where acids and alkalis are present. On the other hand, nickel-chromium-based Inconel tubes, like those composed of Inconel 600 or 625, are designed to withstand oxidation at high temperatures, which makes them perfect for use in heat-treatment, and aerospace settings. In mechanical terms, Inconel performs well in processes involving high heat and oxidation, while Monel provides superior corrosion resistance in seawater. Compared to Inconel, which maintains its strength even at high temperatures, Monel tubes are also more ductile and easy to work with at room temperature.
